Number 5 in the Cranham series of caches.
The Cranham series involves an energetic 5 mile walk around 8 caches in order to obtain coordinates for the bonus cache back in Cranham.
From Damsell's Mill, follow the lane uphill.
Painswick Lodge was rebuilt in about 1400 and was the residence of the Lords of the Manor.
In 1536 it was the residence of Sir William Kingston, Governor of the Tower of London when Anne Boleyn stayed while hunting with her lord, Henry Vll. He was later her jailler when she was imprisoned in the Tower and presided over her execution.
Kingston died of a fit in the street in Painswick in 1540 and is buried in the churchyard there.
