Cache #3 on a SGL 141 trail that cuts between the SGL and a local SP. If gates are closed, hike is approximately 4 miles round trip. Open gates save 1/2 mi each way. Trial is your typical game land trail, grassy road, not perfectly flat, but not overwhelmingly sloped.
Wear orange since this is SGL!
This Rhododendron set is a pretty hike anytime, or a gorgeous hike when the Rhododendron, Laurels, and Honeysuckle are in bloom. Hike is out and back.
Follow Rhododendron Highway straight back. Listen carfefully, you'll even hear the cars. When it sounds close and you can, turn left and head toward the peaceful Cul-de-sac. Pass through the Cul-de-sac and continue through the Rhododendron tunnel, and continue just a bit more. You're looking for a camouflaged lock n lock, just off the side of the trail (maybe 5 feet of bushwhacking).
Continuing on will take you off of SGL and into a development. Best to turn around and head on back to the cachemobile!
I've seen numerous animals in this area, so keep your eyes peeled!
