Creg Bedn is a little-known place that is visited by few people.
It is said to have healing powers, and in the past sick people have
been taken there in hopes that it will help. If nothing else, it is
an impressive landmark and offers views of the entire north of the
island on a clear day.
The path from the mountain box follows a greenway road for some
distance and then breaks off towards Slieau Managh at the point
where the road turns north, crossing the Millennium Way. It remains
fairly well-defined until the summit of Slieau Managh (marked by a
small cairn), but from there you will have to find your own way
through the heather.
From the mountain box you can more or less travel in a straight
line to Creg Bedn, so no additional waypoints are really
needed.
The ground can get quite soggy, so wear appropriate
footwear.
The cache is a small box in a camo-bag containing a notepad and
a bag of tumbled stones (Quartz, amethyst etc.).
IMPORTANT: In foggy weather, it is very easy to get lost in this
area. If visibility is poor, make sure to keep the co-ordinates of
your start point so you can find your way back.
