Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in Tsu Kannon-ji Temple which main statue is one of the most famous three Kannon statues in Japan.

According to a tradition, this temple was built in 709. The oldest existing repot about this temple was published in 1430. In the Middle age, it was a common practice that a pilgrim who went to Ise Jingu Shrine also visited to this temple on his or her way. All of the buildings were burnt in the air raid in 1945, and it is been rebuilding while 1968. Many cultural properties remain and are owned by the temple.

キャッシュは恵日山観音寺、通称「津観音」の境内に隠されています。本尊は日本三大観音の一つとされています。
伝承によると創建は709年とされていますが、この寺院が登場する文献で現存する最も古いものは1430年のものです。中世には伊勢参りの旅人が必ず立ち寄ることが慣習となり、津の中心地として栄えました。1945年に空襲によって全焼しましたが、1968年から再建が進んでいます。多くの文化財が残されており、この寺院に所蔵されています。
