The Kallergi mountain refuge is located in the western region of Crete, high above the plateau of Omalos in the White Mountains (Lefka Ori) mountain range at an altitude of 1608 meters. It is situated in an outstanding area of one of the longest gorges in Europe, named Samaria, and crossing paths with the European E4 trails.
How to get there: There is a hiking path from Xiloskalo – the upper entrance of Samaria gorge and a dirt road (only recommended for 4WD vehicles). See map for details. The hike up to Kallergi refuge will take about 1 to 1 ½ hours, so do not forget to take an appropriate amount of water with you.
The cache container is hidden under stones at the foot of a mountain pine not far from a white landmark.
