FRANCAIS
ENGLISH
The term of conglomeration has a very
special
sense in steel industry: instead of meaning only a swelling
of
particles, operation which could be realized by a simple
briquetage
for example, it means a preparation of fines brandies of iron
ore
which includes: - the swelling of particles, that is the
production
from liqueur brandies from 0 to 6 or 10 mm, even of
concentrated
very fine below 100 - 150 m, below pieces necessary from 5
to
50 mm for the tanks of blast furnaces or direct reduction; -
but
also a cooking, that is a thermal operation where we separate
hydrates and carbonates of ores or fondants (limestone,
dolomite)And where we prepare so at the same time the milkman
and
the iron oxides (which by reduction will produce the metal).
All
this explain that the briquetage does not agree and that is
needed
a thermal operation and, thus, metallurgical. In practice, we
can
distinguish: - the town(conglomeration) on railing(bar)
(sintering
); - the conglomeration in balls or " pelletisation " (
pelletizing). The iron ore which is a rock consisted of oxide of
iron and of miscellaneous the other minerals (located in the
gangue) undergoes first of all a series of operations (crushing and
sifting) to homogenize it. By adding an exact quantity of fondant,
we obtain an indication of basicity (report lime on silica)
neighbor of 1,4 to facilitate the elimination of the components of
the gangue during the passage in blast furnaces in the form of
liquid milkman. The ore added by its fondant is then agglomerated by
heating then cooling to obtain an iron richer ore.
