You can't always be right on Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Joe B 46er: The area had been closed for forestry October through November. I went in and some of my caches were destroyed, one was missing, and I did find a few ... Now that it is re-opened I am archiving all of the former caches and placing new ones here.

Geocache Description:

Yes it would be great to have the coordinates bring you right to the cache. This doesn't always happen and sometimes it is tough to get good coords no matter how you try.

Couple of methods for you new geocachers - Richard E marks the cache, walks away and sees if the GPS brings him back to the right spot. Sometimes he has to do this a couple of times. His coords are always good in my book.

Others, including myself will try taking an average reading.

Sometimes when you get familiar with a particular cacher who places caches and their coords are always off, you just factor this in.

Sometimes this is not their fault - you have the problem of bounce, tree cover, etc.

This one was tough for me. After several readings the GPS was still wandering around. Good thing I knew where the cache was!

Check hint and use some geosense. Good luck when you place a cache. Don't worry, cachers will let you know if you are off! But remember, you can't always be right on.
