Yes, it's another Geocache by members of The Smoky Mountain Extreme Team (T.S.M.Ex.T)
CHRONO-NOTE: This cache cannot be accessed on MONDAYS and TUESDAYS.
Items needed for this cache:
Good flashlight(s) with good batteries--and a back-up light source.
Old sturdy clothing.
Caving helmet optional--but a good idea if you have never been in a cave before.
Camera, snacks and water.
Topo map or road atlas.
Step One: Several days BEFORE your hunt contact either thesolorover@yahoo.com, clint@chimneyrockpark.com or meldnier@hotmail.com
...for vital direction/location information required to access this cache. Without this info you will be lost.
NATURE NOTE: The reason this cache is set up this way is simply for cave protection. To find this cache you will be venturing a short distance into an extensive cave system that is home to several endangered or special concern plant and animal species. This cave system is well known and has suffered from vandalism in the past--if you see any of this type of activity in process it is your job as an environmental steward to either stop it or report it to authorties (or just take down the tag numbers of the nearby vheicles and email them to me and I'll be sure to take care of it:-)
When you email one of us you will be sent the instructions on how to proceed--if you check out.
If you decide to attempt this geocache please understand that you must be EXTREMELY aware and cautious of the unique and rare underground environment you will be venturing into.
CAVES ARE NOT DEAD HOLES! They are very fragile living ecosystems that need our protection--and this cave is protected by the NC Nature Conservancy, the National Speleological Society and now us: Geocachers. We must all work together to assure that this and all caves remain unspoiled safe havens for the unusual and often miss-understood wild creatures that call these areas home. We must marvel at the unique environment of the cave but understand that we are just visitors here and this is not our home. We must take only memories and leave only very few footprints.
RULES: Everything in this cave is protected by law. You MUST NOT remove anything from the cave (this goes for ROCKS also!) except for trash--take all of that you want.
You MUST NOT disturb, touch or remove any animal or plant life that you may find in the cave--it is also all protected by law. *Simply touching a salamander or waking up a bat may kill it!
DO NOT attempt to venture deeper into the cave than the cache's location as it becomes very technical (dangerous) after that point.
Step Two: After you have your information proceed to the above coordinates--enter the establishment and inform the manager that you are looking for the Geocache. If you check out, you will then receive the coordinates and a bottle of water--we also recommend that you eat a pizza for energy (you will need it!).
Step Three: Once you have the final set of coordinates, make your way there and follow the directions you printed from the directions page you obtained from one of us.
