Geocache Description:

The given co-ordinates will take you to the Memorial Gates at the entrance to Te Ati Awa park and the carved archway. This park now is a busy sporting venue.

The Te Ati Awa people migrated from Taranaki and built a great pa at Kenakena which had a population of several thousand. In the early 1840s a church was built on this spot. The pa declined in the late 1840s by the forces of migration, earthquake and windblown sand. It was re-discovered in the 1960s and listed as a heritage site. Take time to read the history as you search for the answers to workout the co-ordinates for GZ which is within walking distance.

GZ is visible to passing muggles so a degree of stealth is required.
Please replace the cache container so it isn’t visible to passersby.
