LONG DESCRIPTION:
This is # 14 of a set of caches placed along the coast of Broadstairs and Ramsgate, loosely following part of the Viking Cycle Trail. (visit link) It is a simple, offset cache.

You are at a spot used by walkers, cyclists and families on holiday. There is a café here for the weary cyclist and a view to the sea. There is also a nature reserve and a beacon to warn of danger.

But the first thing your attention will be drawn to is the full size replica Viking ship. It isn’t just a painted model either. This ship actually sailed from Denmark in 1949 to commemorate the 1500th year of the arrival of the legendary Hengist and his brother Horsa, two Saxon chieftains, who landed at nearby Ebbsfleet. The 'Hugin' first landed at Viking Bay, Broadstairs, before being placed on permanent display here.

You can see a video clip of when the ship was presented by Prince Georg of Denmark on the British Pathe News, by following this link… (visit link) .

So, what about the cache?
You are looking for a small bottle. But it isn’t on the ship itself as this is fenced off. You do not need to cross any fences to reach the cache.

Q1) What is the number given to this cycle route? Answer = AB.
Q2) How many oars can you see on the starboard side of the Hugin? Answer = CD.
Q3) How many men sailed the longship to England in 1949? Answer=EF.
Final location: N 51° A(D+F).(D+C)(F-A)D E001° (B-F)(E-F).F(D+F)F

In true Viking style, at the time of placing, cache contained:
Ship's Log and pencil,
Hog rubber - to roast!
Fake £20 - to pillage!
Queen Amidala - to claim as your own.
