About Lake Roesiger
The park is the former homestead of Richard Roesiger, a young German emigrant from Ortrand (in the former Province of Saxony, today in Brandenburg) who came to America in 1882. In the late 19th century, this was an isolated, rural area and was one of the last frontiers of America. Richard kept diaries for 30 years detailing his isolated life around the lake. Later, his family farmed the site and rented boats and cabins to lake visitors.

The lake holds planted rainbow trout, bass, crappie, perch, and bullhead. The unique feature of this lake is that it is actually three lakes in one. The south part of the lake is about 43 feet deep, the middle third of the lake is shallow (6 feet maximum), and the north part of the lake is 115 feet deep. What this means is that different parts of the lake turn on at different times of the year. As you would expect, the middle third of the lake, being shallow, warms up earlier and can offer good fishing in the winter/spring. The south third of the lake is next to turn on, and the north end of the lake last. Bass fishermen will droll with the various habitat, from shoreline brush to home-owners' piers. The lake is well-developed but quiet. An 8 mile per hour speed limit is in effect on much of the lake, with skiing limited to specific areas.

The park offers access to the lake, picnic tables, a large grass field, and trails through the wooded area to the north. I had sketchy reception, which is reflected in the higher difficulty rating. Please re-hide well as this place is used for more than just geocaching.
