A great walk, but best walked with poles. You can start this walk at Tangatapu (enter S35 15.392 E 174 16.044). You will follow the whaling station walk until you get to the top. Via left on the Kauri Grove walkway till you find the junction. Or.....if you are walking to the Cape Brett Lighthouse, you'll start at Oke Bay (S 35 13.680 E 174 15.797) I prefer to start at Tangatapu, follow the walk through the Kauri Grove, then at the junction head to Toroa Bay, and further on to the Whaling Station, then back to your vehicle at Tangatapu. A nice round trip, but allow 6 hours to enjoy the views and day. If you do the "round trip" as suggested you should be rewarded with 3 caches.
