Cache is located at edge of Granite Creek Forest Service Recreation Site near Coalmont BC.
Yes indeed, we found the long lost treasure of Swede Johansson! During the big gold rush in the Tulameen area of the mid 1880's a white coloured annoyance (PLATINUM) was also found, but discarded. Legend has it that Mr. Johansson collected the platinum, hoarding as much as 25 pounds in a bucket near his cabin, before he left for greener (or golder) pastures and before it was known of its true value.
Well we found the treasure, so look no further! We recovered the meager map he made and made the necessary adjustments for change in the creek location, distance of pace, and change in both building and tree cover. The map said the bucket was hidden at the base of a fir tree just up from his cabin. It was said to be 85 paces (or was that strides -- Mr. Johansson was a long legged fellow!) from the center of Granite Creek.
As the original bucket has long since deteriorated, we hid the cache in a camo'd tobacco tin. There is the usual stash note, log book, some trading items and a FTF prize. As others found it when we hid it, the official FTF is up for grabs, and yes there is still some platinum, but please leave for others to see.
This cache is dedicated to the Tulameen Turtles, and the Mosey-on-Inn for all their great historical caches they have placed along with their help and advice. We really enjoyed ourselves over the last two years exploring the area with still more to see!
