Geocache Description:

Cache not at the posted coordinates. You can park here, but you will need to be wary of ghost and weirdness and things that go bump in the Jersey Night. Solve the puzzle to get the final coordinates to the cache.

Long before I started Geocaching, I often explored areas I read or heard about. I found some completely amazing off the beaten path places, unique and odd history and folk art by locals in many areas of New Jersey. I heard just about ever odd-ball legend and lore; tales of UFOs, ghost, demons, and even big foot. Below are some pictures from my scrapbook of the places I've visited. Somewhere in Weird New Jersey

I have been reading stories about Weirdness in New Jersey since the Summer of 1993.  "Tilly", (#4) introduced me to me A Famous Mooovie Star. Number 5 hooked me on Weirdness in New Jersey.  Unfortunately, I missed the bus tour, but I did get to see the giant four-story clown at the Stone Museum in person.  More clowning around was featured in #7 where I learned about NJ's Most Evil Clown.  The next installment introduced me to Demon's Alley, the Jackson Whites, The Tomb of the Twelve Nuns and The Wantage Totem Pole on Route 23. The Tales from the Marlboro Slaughterhouse and some tiny monuments in a cemetery in Cinnaminson were featured in #16.  The next issue I learned about the Graveyard Vultures of Mt. Holly. Cemetery Safari continued in #29, and the was a whole section on strange things and saying that people put on their Tomb Stones as well as a list of the Oldest (and haunted) Graves in NJ.  It's hard to believe that #40 just came out, and featured some "Swamp Things" in Linwood near the Cooper River. Oh, and not to forget about the previous installment feature the rebirth of the Bowling Ball/Rocking Horse house, (but now in Clarksboro), bogus Nickles in the Cooper River (What's going on in South Jersey?) and an Eerie Graffiti Character that lives under Route 206 in Branchville along the Sussex Branch Trail.

About this cache
You will find this cache under a pile of logs just outside the fenced area. The cache itself if located along the Monmouth Battlefield boundary. While Monmouth Battlefield is noted for it's significant role and a turning point in the fight for America's Independence. The place I discovered was a surprise to me and was something I never heard or knew about regarding the American Civil War. I love finding things I didn't know existed.
Parking is available at the posted coordinates. (N 40 16.276 W 74 17.916). Parking for one car is available along a narrow side street. To access the cache, follow along the bottom of the hill NE until you find the steps leading up to the entrance. Please be mindful of the nearby private property.
