The is the fourth cache in a series in and around the picturesque village of Ash, near Sandwich and my first multi-cache. The Series will lead you on a gentle and enjoyable walk around this lovely village. This cache could be found on its own or as part of the series. Collect the clue’s in the five cache’s to collect the bonus cache hidden in the Ash countryside.
The Co-ordinates lead you to a church. Find the two headstones in the clues below, to find the missing co-ordinates which will lead you to the cache.
AB is the age of John Tucker Herbert
CDEF is the year his wife Annie died
XY is the date in November Matilda Mackarness was born
AMENDMENT: I have been advised that I have used the wrong conversation for the co-ords, so I am amending them to Degree's & Minutes. I Hope this helps everyone. You will have to bear with me I am knew to all this. Thanks to Team NarrowBoat for your help.
The co-ordinates for the cache are
North - (X+Y) C C A . A A E
East - C C A . A (X+Y) F
The brackets indicate an equation which will leave you with a single number as part of the co-ordinates.
The co-ordinates above will lead you down a public footpath into a field. Please be aware of cattle in the field and ensure the kissing gate is secured. The public footpath and the location of the cache is a little over grown so beaware of brambles and nettles (Gloves may be a good idea).
The parish church, dedicated to St Nicholas and probably built on the site of an earlier Saxon church, dates partly from the 12th century and has a 15th-century tower with a green copper spire (once used as a navigation aid), which now houses a ring of ten bells. It also has the best collection of medieval monumental effigies in Kent, including one to Jane Kerriel (c. 1455) which reveals a unique horseshoe head-dress.
Welldone to MeerRescue & Eastry Cache Bandit for a joint FTF.
