bregor:
The restoration is now completed and is now a child care centre. The cache position is now in full view of the office and there is no other suitable place for the cache; therefore I have alternative but to archive this cache.

Geocache Description:

Another in our Chimney Series
The John Knox School was built in 1870, a school to be run on Christian principles. At the rear of the schoolroom is 5 roomed living accommodation for the school teacher. By 1873 the school had 53 pupils but closed in 1878 when the State school opened on the corner of Beach Road. George Benny was the school teacher from 1870 to 1878. After the school closed the building became the manse for the John Knox Church and home to James Benny (brother of George) who died there in 1910.
