In 2008 the US Government secretly received a transmission from an alien civilization. While they could not view the source of the message it was believed to have originated somewhere on the planet Mars. This transmission, which was in poor english, said:
"WE HAVE REEN WATCHING YOUB SPECIES FOB MANY OF YOUB YEABS. WE HAVE DECIDED THAT IF YOU CAN PBOVE YOU ABE INTELLIGENT WE WILL PBOVIDE YOU WITH THE INFOBMATION YOU NEED TO MAKE A MABS LANDING. TO PASS THIS TEST YOU MUST FIND THE INFOBMATION HIDDEN WITHIN OUB DNA REFOBE THE DEADLINE."
The message then instructed the listeners to train their radio telescopes on a specific azimuth on a specific day and to "watch" a very narrow arc.
The given day arrived and as promised they received the following image of an encoded DNA Sequence:
The most brilliant minds at NASA and in Military Intelligence tried in vain for nearly two years to decode the information hidden in the martian DNA. And now, worried that time may be running out because the message was so vague as to the "deadline", the government has asked for your help.
Can you decipher the encoded message? If so, will you be among the first to make a Mars Landing and meet the Alien?
Note: 6/6/2016 Could not find the container, so placed a new one a few feet from the solved coords to position it farther away from the driveway gate . Use your geosenses, GPS signal is bouncy here anyway. The container is a small 4x4x2 inch loc-n-loc type container only two steps from the road behind a tree (see spoiler photo if needed) and is suitable only for small trackables and trinkets. Please make sure that the container is securely closed and make sure to hide it as well as you found it. And finally, please don't take the alien overseeing the container.
