The marker on this cemetery says Voluntown Historical cemetery #5 when you pull in. After doing some research I have discovered that this is the old kinne cemetery which I had been looking for. There are recorded burials back to 1824, but there are some fieldstones which suggest there may have been earlier burials. There are many older Voluntown and Griswold family members buried in here. Take note of the fenced off areas. This truly is a quaint little cemetery.
The cache itself is not in the cemetery. It is placed in an area, however, where you have no choice but to walk through the cemetery to get to it. It is a standard size lock and lock.
