WELCOME
TO LEMON LAKE COUNTY PARK
Lemon Lake is operated by Lake County Parks Department. It
is located between Crown Point and Cedar Lake. There is a charge to
get into the park, at the time we placed these caches it was $4.00
for Lake County residents and $7.00 for non-Lake County residents.
You can check the web site for updated prices,
www.lakecountyparks.com, or call 219-947-PARK. All caches were
placed with approval from the wonderful staff at the Lake County
Parks Department. The park is open from 7:00 am to sunset.
At the 1972 March Park Board meeting Lemon Lake County Park was
named after the small marsh area that had historically been called
by that name. Thus, Lemon Lake was the first Lake County Park
opened to the public.
Today, the park encompasses 403 acres of rolling hills and open
space surrounded by wooded areas. A One mile paved trail around the
lake and more than 5 miles of primitive trails in hilly wooded
terrain provide a wonderful opportunity for a nature walk. Lemon
Lake is more than passive recreation however. It is home to
softball fields, open play areas, a large creative playground, two
sand volleyball courts, four 18 hole disc golf courses (which
hosted the 2010 world disc golf championship games), fishing,
picnicking, volleyball standards, paddleboat rentals, and a
leash-free dog area.
Volunteers play a key role at Lemon Lake County Park. The Red
Roc disc golf organization has been responsible for helping to
establish and maintain the championship disc golf course at the
park. The Indiana State Disc Golf Tournament is completely run by
volunteers. Recreation is the key word at Lemon Lake. With a great
creative playground, volleyball courts, and cross country ski
programs in the winter Lemon Lake is a recreational favorite
