Geocache Description:

Please observe cache in - trash out as I am receiving reports from cachers that many of the sites in the area are being heavily littered. Hopefully we can help by example.
Cache is a camoed peanut butter jar.Should be an easy find.
Access to the trail is via Rockeries Road just off Hwy. 17

Cache is located along a nature trail situated beside Deception Creek which flows into the Lake of the Woods. This trail uses a section of an older abandoned highway.
There is currently a study underway to lay out a new four lane divided highway through this area. We are hoping the final highway does not eliminate this trail but instead goes north. There is currently no other way to get across Canada through the stretch from Kenora to the Manitoba border. Should an accident or beaver activity take out a stretch of this road travellers have to detour via the U.S. to cross Canada. Were this section of road to remain as-is and both sides of a new four lane highway were to move north this problem would be solved. Traffic is very heavy through this region and truck traffic in particular seems to have increased a lot. There is no reason to believe it will get anything but busier as our Country continues to prosper. Please do all you can to convince your MP or other officials of the fact that now is the time to do this right. For now and the future.
