paulherman: This cache hasn't been found for a long time, and when I checked on it today I found it to be missing - for the 2nd or 3rd time. Time for this one to go bye bye.

Geocache Description:

The cache is a matchstick holder tethered to a tree on the bank of the Anclote River. Near the cache location a small tributary stream runs into the Anclote, and after a good rain forms a nice little water fall with a drop of about four or five feet. The stream originates from a lake in the middle of which is an island that serves as a nesting spot for thousands of waterfowl certain times of the year. Unfortunately, the beauty of the area is spoiled by the surrounding residential subdivision that was obviously planned before it became fashionable to protect such habitats. I'm sure the neighbors consider the whole thing to be a nuisance since the noise made by all the birds can be a constant deafening roar during nesting season - not to mention the hundreds of waiting vultures that sit on the roofs of the surrounding houses.

Landside access to the cache is precluded by private property in this area. It is possible to kayak this far upstream if the water is high, although there may be obstacles to overcome or places where a short portage will be necessary. When the water is low, you can walk or climb along the bank to get to the cache.

Congratulations to Bowlark for the first time find!
