This cache is located in historic Bird Cemetery, the final resting place of many of Knox County's earliest settlers. John Higgins, the founder of Mount Liberty and other surrounding areas, is buried here. Legend says the cemetery began when one of the first white settlers in the area had staked out a farm on the location, then lost a young child to disease and buried them on one of the prettiest overlook points on the land. Take some time to look around while you're here! You are looking for for a small decon-type container, big enough for a few small trading items. Please BYOP and replace as found. The terrain rating is in part for the entrance hill of the cemetery--if you don't have 4-wheel drive, you may have to hike it from down at the bottom!
You may pull up through the gate and into the cemetery itself, just please be careful when backing up or turning around. The cemetery is still in use, so as always, be respectful. No need to go into the small shack/building that is falling apart!
Many thanks to TeamBobcats, who first placed a cache here, and who have kindly allowed me to adopt the site!
