The Stratford Hospital was in operation from 1906 until it closed in 1998. This section is now an area of mature trees and old gardens that were part of the hospital grounds.
On the corner of Miranda and Celia Streets there is an accommodation place on one corner and this area is opposite that. Celia Street is the main drag out of Stratford to Dawson Falls after your stop continue to them, well worth the effort.
As you wander through the trees look for the old rose garden areas and fish ponds that are sadly filling up with weeds and in bad need of some TLC. The cache is located at the northern end of one of the tree clusters near the circle (old garden).
If you want to take in more of the Stratford Hospital history there is an amazing display at the Pioneer Village just south of the town. The Stratford Hospital Museum Inc raised $100,000 to relocate and set up the hospital building. It is set up like a ward and each room has a separate display with meticulous attention to detail with equipment and memorabilia.
