In the beginning winter had ruled the enchanted forest. The land
was covered in green grass. The streams raced like a pack of nine
princes down the hills. It was uncomfortable and wet in the lair of
the dragon and the Fairy Princess was not the marrying maiden.
Yet one day the spring sprang. The wild flowers bloomed. Maybe
it was time for this foxy lady to move on. In any case the breath
of the dragon had to be smelled to be believed. The stink was hot,
hairy and horrible with a capital H.
However she would have to be a quick lass. The Fairy Princess
would need to avoid the stalking four fingered amphibian. There
were several million tadpole nappies to be changed. For verily the
offspring of the frog were in great preponderance.
Perhaps the speeding gastropod could be of assistance. He had
saved her from a couple of perils in the past. She wandered along
pleasant trails and then she saw a dreadful vision. Realising
immediately that all was lost. The slimy snail had come to a
complete standstill.
But lo what is this? Gloom. Murky shadow. Darkness has
descended. Had the sun set? Was this a syzygy? Of course it was
worse than any of the above. Mirror, mirror on the wall the nasty
evil wicked witch has risen from a dead. What terrible spell had
she cast? It could only be extremely malevolent darkening of the
light.
She raced to the abode of the gnomes. Up that long tall hill
again. The Fairy Princess could sleep the night safe behind a solid
door, but she knew that sleep would a long time coming on their
lumpy mattresses. She would have to count sheep until she got to a
large number. Say N, where N = N + N to the power N.
For once though sleep in the home of the gnome was pleasant. The
gnomes were away, roaming in the gloaming. There was a choice of
seven beds and all had a degree of comfort and well sprung support.
This was the inner truth.
In the morning the grim shadow remained. The influence of the
malevolent wart covered witch was palpable. The doom of IT had come
down upon the enchanted forest, and great was the misery and
weeping and gnashing of teeth. There was only one place that the
Fairy Princess could be safe. She must escape to the city to stay
with her sister and cousins for the duration.
And it came to pass that the multitudes who begat these things
has seen this vision. They had their satellites and they had their
handheld GPSrs. They went to the listed coordinates. Some who did
not go there were troubled. And among the multitudes, some who were
troubled made their trouble known unto others. And in the year that
they called MMX the wise ones formed the army.
The end of the story is near. Fairy Princess hides herself in a
small safe location. She knew it was safe location because it bore
her name and she understood that she could stay there until an
antidote was found for the evil poison hex cast by the iniquitous
witch. The hide was the only safe place to be. But how long before
the time of deliverance.
