Medium-sized clear lock n' lock container containing pirate booty! It's located in a very serene and usually muggle-free area of Seneca Creek State Forest. Note that our other very kid-friendly cache, Boo to You!, is an easy hike from this cache. You can easily combine the hikes!
This is our first cache, and my boys (ages 5 and 8) are very excited! This cache is extremely kid-friendly, an easy hike through a beautiful part of Seneca Creek State Forest, and contains lots of pirate booty to trade. We promise to keep it stocked with pirate-related goodies! We are also starting off with a couple of travel bugs. There are multiple ways to reach this cache. Option 1: The easiest is a less than 1/4 mile hike from the trailhead behind Thurgood Marshall Elementary School (trailhead located on lefthand side of school). Please only use this route when school is not in session. Option 2: An easy hike (a little over 1/2 mile) from parking lot at Quince Orchard Valley Park. There is a bridge close to the trailhead. From there, an easy walk, but a couple warnings to those with little ones. We crossed a dry creek that could be a problem if it rains. Part of the hike is on a well-used trail through the Pepco cut, but the weeds could get long. There is a leap over a small creek that is no problem for my 8 year old, but I had to carry the 5 year old. Option 3: Parking on Riffleford Road at Seneca Creek. There are multiple routes you can take to the cache which is about 1/2 mile from this location. Several of these are very kid-friendly.
