While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

Geocaches which have not been maintained or the owner has not responded will not be taken out of the archive

Gå under veien og følg stien innover i skogen. For å komme opp på platået anbefales å gå opp sti med tauverket (se bilde). Når oppe på platået, følg stien opp til venstre og så til høyre gjennom den lille «dalen» (se bilde). I enden av «dalen» finnes en sti opp til venstre som vil ta dere opp til utsiktspunktet(se bildet).

På Skoppum finns bygdeborgen Adalsborgen, få kilometer fra Borre-parken. Borgens naturlige terreng gjør den lett å forsvare, og det er oppført stein- murer på alle strategiske punkter. Mange av murene er rast sammen og kan i dag kun ses som steinansamlinger.

Den har en geografisk plassering som de øvrige bygdeborger i Vestfold. Avstanden til kysten er kort, men det bør kunne tydes som et forsvar mot angrep fra landsiden. Et angrep mot vår verdifulle kyststripe, og mot den tidens verdifulle jordbruksområde, den lette sandjorden langs raet.

Stolt ruver den i terrenget, Adalsborgen. Bygget på en fjelltopp som fra naturens side er vanskelig å angripe. I skar og på tvers av slakke skråninger er det bygget forsvarsmurer av stein. Det var også vanlig å forsterke forsvaret av borgen med palisader av spissede trestokker. Dette kan også ha vært tilfelle på Adalsborgen. Det er tydelig at det har vært god planlegging, og at det har krevet en stor arbeidsinnsats å bygge borgen. Det er registrert både indre og ytre forsvarsverker.

Borgens storhetstid er trolig under jernalderen, men mye tyder på at borgen har blitt brukt periodevis frem til sen middelalder. Lokal- historikeren Alf Breda antyder at borgen ble brukt så sent som i 1503 da svenskene brant Tunsberg hus (Slottsfjellet). Denne slutningen er gjort på bakgrunn av funn fra denne tidspoken.

Walk under the road and follow the path into the woods. To come up on the plateau we advise you to take the path with the ropes (see image below). When up on the plateau, follow the path up to the left and then right through the small "valley"(see image below). At the end of the "valley" is a path up the left that will take you up to the viewpoint(see image below).

On Skoppum exists Adalsborgen, few kilometers from Borre Park. The natural terrain of Adalsborgen makes it easy to defend, and it is listed stone walls on all strategic points. Many of the walls are collapsed and can currently only be seen as rock deposits.

It has a geographical location as the other forts in Vestfold. The distance to the coast is short, but it should be interpreted as a defense against attacks from the land side. An attack against our precious coastline and towards the future of valuable agricultural area, the light sandy soil along the moraine.

Adalsborgen lays on a mountain top which by nature is difficult to attack. In the cut and across gentle slopes, it is built defensive walls of stone. It was also common to reinforce the defense of the fort with the wooden palisades of the tip. This may also have been the case on Adalsborgen. It is clear that there has been good planning, and that it has required a major effort to build the fort. It is registered both inner and outer defenses.

The peakperiod of the fort is probably in the Iron Age, but there are indications that the fort has been used periodically until the late Middle Ages. Local historian Alf Breda suggests that the fort was used as late as 1503, when the Swedes burned Tunsberg House (Castle Mountain). This conclusion is made on the basis of findings from this tidspoken.
