Geocache Description:

this is agreat walk along the banks of the river Avon , tough boots are required at this section as it can get very muddy, even in the summer months

at the time of placing the cache there were lots of various fugi's around
all different colours.

The River Avon Trails lets you explore, on
foot, nine miles of spectacular scenery between
Avonbridge and Linlithgow. The Trails can
be walked in either direction and is accessible at a
number of points along the River. The River Avon
flows downstream in long calm straits, over weirs
and waterfalls and through narrow gorges as it
winds its way through the countryside.
The River Avon has been responsible for many
historical, cultural and geological features which can
still be glimpsed along the Trail. The blend of sights,
sounds and smells also indicates the rich variety of
plants, birds and animals that is supported by the
River. No matter which season you use the Trail,
you will enjoy the River’s changing character and its
surrounding landscape.
The Trail generally follows the riverbank and has been
left as natural as possible. In some places, therefore,
the route can be uneven, narrow or muddy. At some
points you will climb above the River using surfaced
paths and steps. Boardwalks, stiles and gates are also
found on the Trail. Appropriate footwear is advised
to ensure your walk is comfortable and enjoyable.
Fingerposts, signboards and interpretation panels
help to guide and inform you along the way.

Everyone has the right to be on most land and inland
water providing that they act responsibly. Your
access rights and responsibilities are explained fully
in the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
Whether you are enjoying the outdoors or managing
it, the key things are to:
• take responsibility for your own actions
• respect people’s privacy and peace of mind
• help farmers, landowners and others to work safely
and effectively
• care for the environment
• keep your dog under proper control
• leave gates as you find them.
