A Halloween themed 10th anniversary geocaching event to benefit Sallisaw Scouts 731. On Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the Sequoyah County Fairgrounds ( in Sallisaw OK) at 10:10 a.m. ( please come early to check in as the coordinate envelopes will be opened at 10:10), 10 new caches, dinner, dessert, trophy and prizes....lots of Halloween fun!
In celebration of the 10th anniversary of geocaching we decided to host an event to teach our local Cub Scouts (Pack 731) a little about the sport. What better way to teach the boys about geocaching than by bringing together the Cub Scouts and the local members of the geocaching community!
On 10/10x3/10 @ 10:10 a.m. the co-ordinates to 10 new unpublished geocaches will be distributed to the event participants. Each of these geocaches will be in a different town( 10 areas)surrounding Sallisaw. After the caches have been found we are asking all particiants to join us ( GEO's...Geocachers of Eastern Oklahoma)) for a creepy Halloween supper of Bloody Brains, Flaky Aligator Skin and Zombie Shin Bones ( aka: Pasta with meat sauce, Salad and French Bread) and to vote for their favorite costumed scout in their 2nd Annual Halloween Costume Contest, Jack-O-Lantern contest and Scarecrow contest . We are asking for a $5.00 per adult ($2 for kids 8-5, children 4 and under eat free)donation for the dinner, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Sallisaw Scouts 731. Scary Graveyard Cake, Black Cat Coffee and Bug Gut Juices will be served for dessert while the geocaching events awards and door prizes are being handed out.
CACHE INFORMATION: Members of the Geocachers of Eastern Oklahoma will place 10 new, unpublished geocaches in the areas surrounding Sallisaw. Each event participant ( individual, couple or team) will be given an envelope that will contain the 10 cache coordinates and a master sheet. Each cache will contain a log and a message. The participants will need to write each message in the appropriate place on the master sheet. When all 10 caches are found, be the first to return the master sheet to win the highly coveted FTF (First to FINISH) trophy! **Geocachers: during the meet and great before dinner, please feel free to share your great geocaching stories, any photos you may have and of course, your wit and wisdom... IE: best cache EVER, hardest cache, most unique container, cache you've found on vacations, caches you've traveled the furthest to get, trouble you've found while caching...etc....
This event will be open to any and all geocachers so please spread the word...We ARE asking for an RSVP here on the group page so that we will be able to have enough coordinate envelopes,food and drink for all participants. We are asking for donations of geocachers signature items to use for this event.
