2008 CITO Crew
Third annual Loon CITO followed by fourth annual "What Happens
At Loon Stays at Loon" i.e WHALSAL (look for a publishing in the
near future). We'll carry over the name from last year's event
since "Violent Acts of Clean Up" does not fit this endeavor as
well. Although the clouds above would beg to differ
. We will surely make use of however
many energetic geocachers decide to show up. We will concentrate on
the western shore of the lake and then strategically deploy people
to other spots around the lake depending on how many show. Heck, if
we get enough people we could probably clean up all the way down to
Wentworth Springs Road. We will make use of everyone, going all the
way down to Georgetown if we have to.
There will be a sister event Saturday night/Sunday (What Happens
at Loon Stays at Loon) so people can camp if they wish. There is
usually plenty of availability at the campground this time of the
year. You can also camp outside of the campground (at some of the
areas we will be cleaning up), but keep in mind that most likely
there will be fire restrictions in place (i.e. no campfires outside
the campground if that's the case). Unfortunately we will not have
access to the Chalet this year, so we'll be camping the for sure.
On the bright side, I don't think the weather can get any worse
than it was last two years - and if you ask any of those attendees
I think they would all say they had fun despite the weather. Since
the weather is as much of a mystery as who the attendees will be,
come prepared for anything.
This will be the third annual CITO so I hope the folks that
attended last two years will return and we'll see some new faces as
well. We will concentrate on the western shores of the lake first,
then expand to other areas of the lake as needed. As most previous
attendees know, this work detail is not the most difficult. More
details and logistics will be posted as the event gets closer. The
actual clean up will be held from 10am - 1:30pm.
