Rail slipway (which is now gone!)
This quiet spot features a pretty old looking slipway of the rail variety, which appears to have once extended up to the road (hard to be sure). There's a few old boatsheds nearby as well, and views out to Tamaki Strait and the anchored boats.
UPDATE: The slipway has gone(!), the boat shed remains, and the muddy tide-dependent beach access has been replaced with a very flash coastal boardwalk/cycleway. Sadly, during its construction the original cache was discovered and removed so I had to replace it.
Still a great spot to visit - the boardwalk meanders rather nicely along the coast (it continues downriver a long way) and there are a few artifacts nearby, left over from the old slipway, and an historic cattle landing and yards, just around the corner from GZ.
