Small cache on the trail "Death Crotch" in Medicine Bow/Routt National Forest, in the Happy Jack recreation area, near Laramie, WY.
This is a vigorous hike of about 2.5 miles from the parking area just past the Lincoln Head monument, just off I-80 (Happy Jack Road exit). The cache is at 8978 feet. The Death Crotch trail is well marked by signs off of the Summit Loop (aka Van's Loop). This is our favorite mountain bike ride in the area -- the downhill on the east side is long, switchbacked, and technical. This is one of the highest points in the Happy Jack recreation area -- don't go up here if lightning threatens. We started the cache off with a couple of vintage football cards (George Blanda, Bart Starr), some foreign coins and notes, and some Magic-The Gathering cards. Enjoy.
