Geocache Description:

This road was named after Count Bolognesi who was an Italian Counsel General in Chicago. He was intrigued with LN after traveling through the area he built an estate at the end of this road on Lake Nebagamon.

In 1917 Count Bolognesi started a cheese factory in Lake Nebagamon. The cheese factory produced wheels of Parmesan cheese where the LN Laundromat sits today. The company soon expanded, setting up plants throughout northern Wisconsin. Around 1933 the company began to open plants in the Upper Peninsula.

The Count also had a produce warehouse for potatoes, flour, seed and grain in the building that is now the LN Cabinet Shop (next to the Laundromat). He also bought 1000 acres (now Links farm) on Highway B east of Lake Nebagamon and raised Holsteins.

DID YOU KNOW?
When you sprinkle Parmesan cheese on your pizza or pasta, you're having a royal experience. Parmesan is known as the King of Italian cheeses. So did Count Bolognesi want to be a KING? You can find Stella Parmesan and other cheeses in stores today. You can be a KING.

After looking over the heritage of LN you might want to play a game of tennis or play ball with friends at Otto Finell Park, adjacent to this cache site. Maybe a fitting winners prize would be Parmesan cheese and a crown!
