Edgewood South - Revisited Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SnowBird690: Wow, this lasted a long time! I moved off of Long Island in 2009, but left a couple of caches there simply because I didn't have time to go pick them up before I moved. I moved to Illionois, then a year later moved to Kentucky. Needless to say, getting back to Long Island to archive and remove these caches was not possible as I live about 600 miles away now and have for a couple of years! But it was fun. I hope that next time somebody is in the area they can pick up this old cache and throw it away for me.

Thanks for all of your logs. I will have to place some here closer to home now. I think I may finally have found a place to live more long term!

Geocache Description:

This is a med sized rubbermaid container with a black and white spotted log book. I placed it to replace the old Edgewood South cache that went missing. Minimal bushwacking required, about 20ft from well defined trail.

There in an interesting story behind this cache. When I was looking to go caching here in Edgewood forest I looked up all the cache pages for all the cahes in this park so that I would have description/clues for the hunt/hike that day. The "Edgewood South" cache was one I looked at, but it wasn't active because the container was missing. Well, I wanted as many finds as possible so that I could hit 1000 that day (I was only 16 away at that time). Well, I have extra cache containers and log books laying around so I grabbed one, and took it with me when we went caching that day.

The day went normal, I found GZ, and found a spot that halfway matched the clue. I figured that I knew what happened, it appeared that somebody, a muggle, rearanged the forest a bit and that was why the cache container went missing. So, I did some rearanging myself of the forest so that I could make a spot at GZ that matched the clue. Well, there was a lot of tree cover and my GPS was bouncing around a bit, but I did as good of a job as I could to make sure that I put my new cache container right at GZ.

When I got home I was dismayed to see that the cache had been archived, on that exact same day by an administrator. I logged it as found anyway. Since that cache container is there, I will go ahead and activate it as my own cache and take over ownership.

It is a great spot, beautiful hiking out there, minimal ticks. I hope everyone enjoys this new cache.
