Geocache Description:

This is the first in a series inspired by music. They will be about bands, albums or songs

Thanks to Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson

This cache is in the historic Birubi Cemetery.

This is a prime piece of real-estate surrounded by national park. So the cache placement was limited but there are a couple of others around Anna Bay. While you are here follow the path and have a look from the point. Well worth the short walk. This is also a good fishing spot.

To find the cache you need to explore this historic cemetery.
First stop is a plaque near the entrance placed as a bicentenary project.

Step 1
Lucy Blanch was the first burial here. Her grave marker is missing but you can find the date of her death from the plaque. There is a map of the grave sites if you follow the path into the cemetery. So you can visit Lucy if you wish. Also there is a reminder of how dangerous our coast is as there are the graves of two droned sailor’s on the map as well.

Step 2
The oldest remaining headstone belongs to Henry McPherson. To find this headstone from the original position subtract the (month Lucy died + 1) from south and (add the year together -1) then subtract this from East.

Step 3
The newest arrival is John Bartlett MP
He was mayor of Port Stephens and a state MP. I am unsure why this is his final resting place as there is no other Bartlett in the cemetery. But if you can get in here it sure is a great spot to be.

To find his resting place from the last position (henry's age -33) must be added to south. Annie's age - Day she died) is to be added to East.

Step 4
Now to the prize.

To find the cache you need to add the month that John died to both South and East Co ordinates of his grave.

There are limited hiding places as this is surrounded by national park but the hide shouldn't be too hard.
