Some 3 minutes drive before or after the turn-off to Seeb
International Airport, depending on where you are coming from, is
the Sahwah round-about. Next to it is a small parking area with an
entrance off the round-about at the coordinates provided below.
Park your car there and walk for a short distance to what once was
an ornamental garden but which has now been left to its own
devices, providing an ideal setting to hide a largish cache out of
sight of the many muggles which are customary around airports.
Please park only on the designated parking lot and NOT on the side
of the 3-lane highway that passes just a few meters away from the
cache location. You could pay with your life!
Just to remind you that you are indeed very near to an airport,
low flying aircraft will cause you to duck regularly as they
take-off or approach the airport. When looking up the cache
location on Google Earth (02/25/2009 map) you will notice that an
aircraft has been captured on the satellite pic just while
overflying the cache site! Please note that to reach GZ from the
parking area a concrete drainage ditch will have to be crossed.
While this should not provide too much of a challenge for the
average geocacher, proper shoeware should be worn, while the
crossing may become impossible on the few rare occasions when it is
actually raining in Oman. In those cases you can just walk around
it by crossing where the ditch disappears under adjoining
roads.
Inside the regular lock-n-lock box there is the usual log book
and pencil along with a box of plastic sandwich bags and a felt-tip
pen. When dropping off TB's and GC's please mark on each plastic
bag what the destination is that the trackable inside wants to
travel to. This makes it easier for following geocachers to decide
which trackables they can help along on their journey. If you are
there to pick-up trackables, please take as many as you can help
along, even if it is only partly towards its ultimate destination.
Remember trackables are there to travel. No owner likes to see
their TBs or GCs linger in a plastic box half-way around the world
while geocachers are passing by without taking the trouble to take
along some trackables! The hotel would rather be empty than to
harbour long-term guests!!!
As usual please be discrete while hunting for the cache. There
may be many curious muggles nearby, especially when "foreigners"
start acting suspiciously by searching for something where normally
there should be nothing to see! Happy hunting, and remember keep
those 'doggies' moving!
