ANGEL
One of a series of caches placed in
Stockgrove Country Park.
Stockgrove Country Park sits on the
Greensand Ridge. The Greensand Ridge runs from near Gamlingay in
Cambridgeshire to near Leighton Buzzard in Bedfordshire. The sands
and sandstones that comprise the Greensand Ridge were laid down in
the Cretaceous period (115 million years ago) in warm tropical
seas. Later tilting and compressions gave rise to the scarp and
vale landscape extant today. Being porous the greensand is an
important aquifer and provides important wetland habitats as well
as drinking water for nearby Heath and Reach.
The Greensand Trust aims to promote,
educate, manage and maintain this important landscape and habitat.
I'm happy that they have allowed me to place a few caches here. You
do not need to stray too far from any of the main walks to find
these caches. Neither are they placed in any of the
SSSI's.
Angel is placed, as the name suggests,
near an angel, well a bench with wings. You are looking for a 35mm
film container, containing a log book. You will need to bring your
own writing implement
