Il faggio è un albero, molto longevo, di grandi dimensioni con tronco diritto, corteccia liscia di colore grigio e chioma densa. Le foglie, disposte in due file, e sono semplici diforma ovale con margine ondulato e leggermente dentati; i fiori sono penduli e poco appariscenti. Fiorisce nei mesi di aprile e maggio. Anche l'uomo da sempre apprezza le qualità del suo legno, da esso ricava un ottimo combustibile e la materia prima per fare sedie e piccoli arnesi. In particolare è ideale per creare i minici.

Il "Grande Faggio", situato lungo il calto che scende dal Monte Fasolo, è alto 18 m e il fusto è vistosamente inclinato verso ovest e si è originato dalla fusione di due tronchi. La chioma presenta una ramificazione articolata e ricadente ad ombrello.

Sui Colli Euganei il faggio è presente anche sui versanti settentrionali dei monti Venda e Vendevolo, Madonna e Grande, Rua, Ventolone, Ricco e Cero.

The beech is a large long lived tree, with a straight trunk, smooth grey bark and thick foliage. Its leaves, arranged in two rows, are slightly toothed and elliptical with undulating edges. The flowers are hanging and not much noticeable. It blossoms in April and May. From its appreciated wood you can obtain an excellent fuel and rough material to make chairs, small tools and, in particular, it is used to make handles.

The "Big Beech" that is visible along the calto running down Monte Fasolo is 18 m high, the trunk leaning to the west, and it is formed by the joint of two different trunks. It has a rounded spreading crown and branches hanging to the ground.

On the Euganean Hills the beech is also present on the northern slopes of Monte Venda and Vendevolo, Madonna and Grande, Rua, Ventolone, Ricco and Cero.
