Geocache Description:

This cache is placed to honor a man who worked hard for scouting

HUBERT HAGUE POWELL
9-29-1913 TO 9-11-2001

Hubert Powell had been active in scouting since 1934 and was caretaker, ranger and camp naturalist at Camp Cabarrus from 1942 until his death. Hubert had been a big part in many a scouts life through his life time and it was my privilege to have know him since I was 6 the first time my dad took me to camp Cabarrus. My dad told me many stories about Hubert and his time at Camp Cabarrus as a young Scout right up to when he left for Korea. Huberts death has left a void that has yet to be filled.

This cache is being placed in honor of Hubert Powell. I am placing an unfinished neckerchief carving in the cache since Hubert was always carving something, Many a scout probably has something that Hubert carved and gave to them over the years. All I ask is that if you take something please leave something pertaining to scouting or something at least of equal or greater value.

Cache is a tupperware container with room for log book and goodies please make sure lid is tight and cache is his as well as it was. Don't forget to bring your favorite writing device with you when you come
