It's OUT-A-HERE! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ninja Reviewer: As there's been no cache to find for a long time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Did you know this park is named after David Duncan, a local Civil War hero and Reconstruction-era businessman? Did you know that nearly 21,000 fans crowded into the 4,000 seat capacity stands to watch the "world series" of American Legion baseball in 1936? Did you know that the New York Yankees, in 1937, featuring Joe DiMaggio and Lou Gehrig, played an exhibition game here on their way to New York? Did you know that this park was once home of a farm team for the Philadelphia - The Spartanburg Phillies?

This little park, in the heart of Spartanburg, has created some interesting and rich history since opening in 1926, and it is the oldest Minor League stadium in the country. As you look for the cache imagine hearing the crack of the bat and the spectators cheering. Can you smell the popcorn as the vendor shouts out "peanuts, popcorn, crackerjacks"? Can you feel the energy radiating from the old stadium of great games of time past? As you walk to the cache try to remember the excitement the outfielders had when a ball was popped up in the air. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and catch one. Enjoy!
