solved, the final location and the solve itself will be necessary
to determine the final solution to the 10th, and final, Zöe Bro
Coup | Piece de Resistance. You will need to solve at least 4 of
the 9 Coup puzzles to solve the 10th, but it is not necessary to
solve each of the 9 "de" puzzles to find their finals if you have
your wits about you.
Once upon a time in a land not too far away there lived a king who
fancied himself a decent and wise ruler and he was, generally
speaking, revered and well-liked by his subjects. He ruled a tiny
little kingdom called Selzzup, which is about the modern equivalent
of 9 square city blocks.
He came to the throne rather unexpectedly but took his mantle and
his subjects seriously, unlike some members of his court. Well,
after his first year, the king decided to take a short vacation -
just a few weeks to regain his senses before embarking on his
second year on the throne. One morning, near the end of his
holiday, he was awoken suddenly by a knock on the door. It was his
Chancellor, Evad, who brought news of a potential uprising, headed
by a young usurper who'd recently come to the kingdom and was
challenging the King's subjects to numerical duals of his own
making.
Sensing that this young challenger possessed some skills
(bike-riding skills, mad-shadowing skills), the King decided to
issue a series of challenges in return. And so he called his court
together that very morning and asked each of them to develop a
puzzle for the young lad to solve. Coincidentally, the 9 members of
his court each lived in one of the 9 tiny regions of the kingdom
and therefore the King knew he would be well represented.
"Bring them to me by sunset so I may issue the proclamation
henceforth and with haste!". So the 9 members of the court left to
ponder and postulate...
Around lunch time, the Bishop appeared before
the king and said, "This came to me as I was in confessional, your
Majesty, so I cannot share the solution with you but you're welcome
to solve it yourself. In fact, I did not create the puzzle, but
overheard it while eavesdropping on the queen. In any case, you'll
just have to trust me as you would your Maker." The King rolled his
eyes. The Bishop continued "The lad must use the general rules of
this game, but also know that where grouped numbers appear, one
number is the sum of the others in the group."
The king was not entirely pleased and sent the Bishop on his way,
without so much as a handshake.
