Gastenklinge in Strümpfelbach
Strümpfelbach liegt in einem Seitental des Keuperstufenrandes der Waiblinger Bucht und damit an einer der Landschaftsstufen des Süddeutschen Stufenlandes. Der Keuper ist etwas Besonderes, er ist mit rund 40 verschiedenen Ablagerungsgesteinen (Sedimenten) die vielfältigste Schichtenfolge unseres Heimatraumes und liegt sandwichartig zwischen Muschelkalk und Schwarzem Jura. Seine Sedimente sind verschiedenen Ursprungs. Sie wurden vor 225-200 Mio. Jahren in einer Senkungslandschaft abgelagert. Der Keuper besteht aus Mergel, Sandsteinen, Gips und Letten. Es gab eine Wechselfolge meerischer und festländischer Ablagerungen.
In Flussdeltas wurden Sande abgelagert. Insgesamt hat der Keuper 5 Sandsteinablagerungen. Lettenkeuper, Schilfsandstein, Kieselsandstein, Stubensandstein und Rät, mit mächtigen Mergelfolgen dazwischen. Deutliche Geländestufen bilden der Kieselsandstein und der Stubensandstein. Aufgrund ihrer Widerständigkeit gegenüber der Erosion sind sie Stufenbildner an den Hängen unserer Strümpfelbacher Landschaft.
Das Strümpfelbachtal zerteilt die Keuperschichten, so dass links und rechts des Tales dieselben Schichten anstehen. Den Fuß unserer Hanglandschaft am Talausgang bildet der Gipskeuper. Er wird jedoch von Gehängeschutt und Löß überlagert.

Strümpfelbach is located in a valley of Waiblinger bay (Keuperstufenrand) which is part of the south German Stufenland. The Keuper is special. He has approximately 40 different sedimentary rocks (sediments) the diverse strata of our home space. He is sandwiched between limestone and black Jura. Its sediments are of different origin. They were deposited 225-200 million years ago in a reduction in landscape. The Keuper is composed of marl, sandstone, gypsum and clay. There was an alternation of continental and ocean deposits.
In river deltas sands were deposited. Overall the Keuper deposits five kinds of sandstone. Keuper clay, reed sandstone, pebbly sandstone, room sandstone and Rät, interspersed with thick marl sequences. Significant levels of terrain form of pebbly sandstone and room sandstone. Due to the weathering resistance they are Stufenbildner on the slopes of our Strümpfelbach landscape.
The valley of Strümpfelbach divides the Keuper layers, so that the layers on the left and right of the valley are equal. The surface slope of our landscape at the entrance to the valley formed by the Gipskeuper. However, it is overlain by loess and scree.
