Geocache Description:

1st Geocashe to be placed in Hudson Bay, Sk. I used to come and play in the regional park a lot when I was a kid. There's a good playground for kids, a place to cool off in the river and the nature trails where I have placed this cashe.

The trails aren't overly long, but if you have a child or children that are under 5 you may want to take your time as there are numerous tripping hazards along the trails. It would be wise to spray down with bug spray and even carry some in with you. The trails are maintained but if you're going to seek this cashe in winter I would recommend snow shoes for sure as the park is closed all winter and there will be a lot of snow on them. During the summer months a 5 dollar entrance fee is usually in effect; but often if you say you are just looking for a quick walk down the trails they will allow you in for free. There are many good places to take pictures and the cashe is just a few feet off of the trail it's self. Please be respectful and practice cashe in and trash out (CITO) while on the trails or in the park. Have fun and enjoy yourself! Additional history about the park will and has to include the baseball fields just left of the main gate and down the hill. This was the area of the old trading post fort but nothing from that time has lasted to this day.

The cashe it's self is a large white tobacco can with a blue lid. Original contents include the Geo-Cashers welcome letter, Log book and pen, little silver bell, ear-plugs, a little bit of black electrical tape, 2 clam shells, mini flash light, toy clown, 4 polished river rocks and 4 fossil rocks.

Congratulations on the FTF Tweetster!

The Hudson Bay Regional Park was awarded Park of the Year 2011 at the Saskatchewan Regional Parks Association Spring Convention April 1, 2011. The Park of the Year Award is to acknowledge a Regional Park who stands out from the rest by providing outstanding facilities and services to the public. This year’s honour follows the Park on the Move Award, which the park won in 2010.

Hudson Bay has also been awarded 12 Rider's Choice Snowmobile Awards as chosen by SnoRiders.
