JohnTubbsMB: Well, it's time to archive this one. Thanks to everyone who found it, and thanks to the original CO of the cache, from whom I adopted it when she moved from the area! The outer 'container' (organic as it was) had pretty much fallen apart, and the actual cache container was broken. It appears the local kids had also found the location, which makes it unviable for replacement.
