Geocache Description:

The first in what we plan to be a series of caches leading you on a pleasant family stroll through a lovely park.

This is a high traffic area so watch for muggles

Clove Lakes Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in Staten Island. With lakes, trails, picnic areas, a great playground for the kids and a wide array of wildlife this is a truly lovely park for families to visit. We took up geocaching as something we could do as a family so it seemed fitting that our first hides should be family friendly.

Take your time, enjoy the walk, as we put the series together we'll be preparing an 'Eye Spy' checklist of things for the kids to spot along the way. In the meantime see if you can spot Herons, Northern
Cardinals, Chipmunks, Red Winged Blackbirds, Muscovy Ducks, Cormorants, Woodpeckers and more!
And PLEASE let us know what you spot when you log your visit!

At this step we talk turtles.

Once a place the birds used to nest
But sadly it wasn't the best
A crash and a shiver,
It fell in the river
Now the turtles use it to rest

Bonus recognition if you post how many turtles you see!

Checked the cache today, the hiding spot is better than i had thought when i first scouted it and it survived the recent bad weather lately so I changed it to a small cache instead of a micro. room for a couple of small items or trackables. I'll drop off a pencil as soon as I get a chance.

It's our first hide so we'd welcome constructive comments (but please be kind! )
