If you wish you can take a short, circular walk around the village of Ashby St Mary.

This is my first ever cache so I hope everything I’ve done is right

If you’re planning to take the circular walk it is best to park at the village hall (shared with Thurton) (N 52.55.8570 E 001.43.3807). The car park is free and if you have children there is a place for them to play. From the village hall go back on to the road (Mill Road) and you need to head northwards. After around 0.3 miles you will pass a road on the right (Mill Common) leading down a steep hill. Just after this there is a sign for a public footpath also on the right hand side. Follow the narrow path between the houses until it opens out into a field. Continue to follow the path across the field. The path will then narrow again as it climbs up a steady hill covered by trees. The cache is hidden on this section of the path. Once you reach the top of the hill continue going straight. Please keep on the path and don’t walk on the fields. Keep following the path even past the house, where it joins the road (the rest of the walk continues along quiet country roads). Carry on straight until you reach a cross roads, at this point you need to turn left. You will pass the quaint church of St Mary’s, and after about another 5 minutes or so there should be another cross roads, and once again you need to turn left. Keep following this road and eventually you should be back on familiar ground. The total distance for this walk is just less than 2 miles.
