Geocache Description:

One might assume that Lincoln Bridge got its name from the President but it isn't so. The Highway 530 bridge that spans the Stillaguamish River is the third to cross at this point. The first was construced in the early 1900's near the location of the present bridge. At that time the Lincoln Mill occupied the ground where the county courthouse sits across the highway. The last building folks would see as they left town was the old Lincoln Mill so the bridge was christened by the same name to differentiate it from the other one at Haller Park. When the original bridge was washed away a second one was constructed a bit to the east. One can still see the old concrete supports near the cache site. Pedestrians crossing that bridge on foot could feel the thing shake as log trucks passed over. The shakey structure was replaced by this new bridge which also serves as the starting point for the Fourth of July Duck Dash. Old Shakey was demolished and cut up for recycling. The cache is now in its fifth container. Replace the inner container and close the lid on the outer container to keep things as dry as possible. Want to be on the safe side of traffic? Try approaching GZ from Talcott Street. Congratulations to Craftea and Harriet the Spy for FTTF (First two to find). They tied and beat the rest of the crowd by minutes.
