The cache is named from a documentary/reality television series on a documentary satellite/cable channel. It portrays the real life events aboard fishing vessels in the Bering Sea during the Alaskan king crab and C. opilio crab fishing seasons.
The show's name derives from the inherent high risk of injury or death the crews face due to the hazardous work environment and nature of the work itself. Something that shouldn’t happen when looking for these caches!
Jonathan Hillstrand, as captain of Time Bandit during King Crab season, he runs a tight ship. John's life at sea began at an early age when their father, John Sr., would take them out on the boat as early as the age of three. They began fishing at the age of seven. John became a full-time fisherman after high school.
