Wally’s Gift.
Welcome to the landing on Black Lake. Although the lake’s tannin stained waters don’t hold many angling trophies; there is nostalgic, peaceful beauty that can be had by anyone willing to spend a few hours inside its rugged shore.
We all owe Wallace “Wally” Steinke a moment of fond reflection and gratitude because the landing that accesses this lake once belonged to him. Wally’s generosity permitted this piece of land to be parlayed to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. The lakes splendor is now accessible to all comers.
In September of 2010, after a long and rich life, Wally passed away leaving us this gift…the legacy of his lake.
