Geocache Description:

A very simple Multi - Cache written by kids for kids of all ages.

Nightingale

Many years ago a beautiful pool existed known by everyone and every creature, it was called Malt Pool, many used it and it was on every map.

But one day an evil enchantress called Freya decided to dry up all the pool as she hated animals and especially happiness.

One sunny day all the kind animals woke up, shockingly they went out to swim in the pool or drink from the pool and found that there was NO water there. None of the animals knew what was going on but luckily a toad had seen what had happened so he told everyone but everyone was not listening, they were too busy worrying to be listening to Jo the toad. One animal that had been listening was a Nightingale called Mia, she had just been flying past. So she came down from the sky and said “I know someone that could help us Barney the barn owl. “Fly on my back and I’ll take you there” Said the Nightingale. So off they flew.

Barney was sitting with his wife Emma
“Barney, BARNEY we need your help please. Malt Pool has dried up because Freya the evil enchantress has cast a spell. ” shouted Mia.
Barney ruffled his feathers and replied “To break the spell a human child must perform three tasks …..

1) First find the hiding owlets at N 50° 54.833 W 001° 06.630.
2) Find the magical object at …. N 50° 54.837 W 001° 07.021 that reveals the location of a cache.
3) Find The Philosopher's Stone (cache) and open it, this will break the spell and in time the pool will be restored.

Nightingale asks Owl for help

Notes For Adults: This is an easy walk along a drive past two cottages, through the drive of a third cottage following the well defined footpath to the right of the ‘Warning Dogs Let Loose‘ sign (we have never seen any evidence of dogs, but lots of chidren ). You then continue following the footpath through the woods to the magical object and then rejoin the footpath to reach the cache. The total return walk is just under a mile and can easily be done in an hour. We have seen many creatures on our visits, a golden deer, pheasants, toads, squirrels and a wealth of fungi.

The magical object is located almost at ground level and is hanging behind a large Yew tree and slightly protected by a loose piece of bark, so please be careful when searching for it. Please also ensure the magical object is unhooked and not pulled off and is re-hung to prevent water damage. Thank you.
