Geocache Description:

This cache is set close to one of the boundary stones of the parish of Llantrisant. Every 7 years the freemen of Llantrisant 'beat the bounds' or walk the boundary. Every so often there are stone to demarcate the boundary. When they arrive at these they bump the sons of the freemen on the stones - to help them remember!!! The cache is set just off the cycle track on a footpath.

This is one of a set of caches placed along the new community route alongside the church village bypass. This road has been in the planning stages since the 1950's and finally opened on 7th Sept 2010. The first cars along it were Gilbern cars which were produced in Llantwit Fardre from the 1950's to the 1970's, about 100 being made. The community route runs from Cross Inn to Tonteg and was opened on 8th August 2010. It is possible to park at various places just off the new road to access the community route. At Cross Inn it is at N 51 32.405 W003 21.665. This has been muggled a couple of times so please do not leave trackables in case they disappear.
